Clean and neatly pressed. Leather straps and buckles must be clean and polished. Inside and outside aprons (non-pleated parts) must be securely fastened by buckles. The bottom edge of the kilt must hang just above the middle of the knee cap. The hem should be even all the way around. The pattern must be centered at the front of the body. The inside apron hem must not hang below the outside apron hem.

Tip:

Do not pull your kilt buckles so tight that the front pattern is pulled to one side. You want the pattern to look vertically straight as well as centered.

One way to make sure your kilt is the proper length, the hem should just brush the ground when you are kneeling on both knees.

If you wear anything under your kilt, please be sure it is a nice plain dark color. Red polka-dotted boxers are NOT a good idea.

All parts must be clean and polished, with hair neatly brushed. Worn at the center over the front apron of the kilt so that the cantle(top of the sporran) is one hands-width below the waistbelt buckle. Center of cantle must line up vertically with the buttons on the front of the tunic.

Kilt pin should be clean and polished. Rosettes should be neatly pressed with no loose threads. Both must be worn approximately 4 inches up from the hem, and 3 inches in from the right side of the front apron. Both should sit neatly in line with the tartan pattern.
